Bright House Networks Teams Up with Law Enforcement to Launch New Operation Bright Eyes Program

Maitland, FL--Central Florida will be a safer place to live, thanks to a new neighborhood watch initiative being introduced this week by Bright House Networks.

Operation Bright Eyes, which is officially rolling out today, Thurs., July 23, 2009, is designed to maximize the eyes and ears of Bright House Networks field service representatives and other employees to easily identify suspicious behavior and to quickly report criminal activities to the proper authorities.

Leaders from Central Florida law enforcement and local government joined Bright House as company executives announced details of this and other steps the company is taking to contribute toward creating a safer community. The announcement took place at 7:45 a.m. today, Thurs., July 23 at the Bright House Networks Division offices at 2251 Lucien Way in Maitland.

Each of the company’s more than 3,000 employees, including hundreds who regularly drive through and become familiar with residents and activities in neighborhoods, will receive crime-watch training designed by Central Florida Crimeline. Employees will also be equipped with a comprehensive list of emergency numbers to call. Current and new employees will receive the training.

“We’re committing our people, including hundreds of folks intimately familiar with the routes they drive, to helping law enforcement keep our neighborhoods safe,” said J. Christian Fenger, president of Bright House Networks Central Florida division. “This is all about using the resources already at our disposal to do the right thing for our community.”

“We’ve seen a rise in violent crimes, particularly attempted child abductions and assaults, contributing to rising concerns over personal safety,” Fenger noted.  “We want to do anything a company with a huge fleet of vehicles can do to help keep our neighborhoods safe. Operation Bright Eyes really gives us the chance to take a pro-active role in public safety. We’re a local company, so this initiative is really a natural for us.”
